Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 August 2026

The short version: Maal does not collect, transmit or store any of your personal or financial information. There is no account to create, no server to send anything to, and no analytics. Everything you enter stays on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. Maal has no user accounts, no sign-up, no login and no cloud sync. We operate no servers that receive data from the app, and the app makes no network requests of any kind.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter — accounts, balances, transactions, budgets, debts, savings goals, installment plans and any images you choose — is written to a database stored in the app's private storage on your own device. This includes:

This data never leaves your device. It is not backed up to us, because there is no "us" to back it up to. If your phone's own backup service (iCloud Backup or Google's backup, for example) is enabled, your device operating system may include the app's data in that backup. That backup is between you and Apple or Google, and is governed by their privacy policies, not this one.

Photos

If you choose a picture for a card, a bank logo or a savings goal, the app asks your device for permission to open your photo library. The image you pick is cropped and copied into the app's own private storage. No other photo is read, and nothing is uploaded. You can decline the permission and use the app normally — the pictures are decoration.

The camera, and receipt scanning

When you scan a receipt, the app asks your device for permission to use the camera. The photograph is read on the phone itself — by Apple's Vision framework on iOS and Google's ML Kit on Android, both of which run entirely on the device — and the text it finds is used to fill in a transaction for you to check. The photograph is not uploaded, not sent to us, and not sent to any text-recognition service. There is nowhere for it to go: the app makes no network requests.

Notifications

Maal can remind you before a credit card statement closes or a payment falls due. These are local notifications: your device schedules them itself from data already on the device. There are no push notifications, and the app never registers for a push token, so no notification service is told anything about you.

Analytics, tracking and advertising

There are none. Maal contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier, no tracking pixel and no third-party telemetry of any kind. We do not know how many people use the app, which screens they visit, or whether they use it at all.

Sharing and selling data

We do not share, sell, rent or disclose your data, because we never receive it. Were we compelled by a lawful order to hand over a user's financial records, we would have nothing to give.

Children

Maal is a personal finance tool intended for general audiences. It collects no data from anyone, including children.

Deleting your data

Because your data lives only on your device, you control it completely. You can erase everything from within the app, or delete the app, which removes its database along with it. There is no separate account deletion request to make, and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

This website

mymaal.online is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and requested pages, for security and reliability.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever gains a feature that involves sending data anywhere — it has none today — this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the change will be described here rather than quietly applied.
